Target Group: Vocalist Level: Bachelor, aspiring vocal students preparing for admission exams for conservatories, colleges and art/music universities, ambitious secondary professional singers in upper music school level.

Content: Vocal technique in the group, singing technique in individual lessons, interpretation including piano accompaniment, solo coaching, practical work additional modules.

Course repertpoire: The course repertoire is taken freely selectable in the genre Lied by Franz Schubert. Depending on the requirements, concerts and song cycles as well as concert programs can be edited fort he vocal subject Within the Master class, a maximum of three pieces can be worked on! Please the course repertoire coordinate with the course management in advance.

Participation & Costs

A participation in the masterclass can be either active oder passive. The course leader - referent decides on active or passive participation after the audition on the first day of course. For the Schubertiade € 350,--, must be calculated. The number of participants in the active staturs is limited with 16 participants per masterclass.

Robert Holl ThumbRobert Holl was born in Rotterdam and completed his studies here with Jan Veth and David Hollestelle. In 1971 he won first prize at the International Singing Competition in ´s-Hertogenbosch. He then studied with Hans Hotter in Munich. In 1972 Robert Holl won first prize at the ARD competition in Munich. From 1973 to 1975 he was a member of the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, after which he mainly worked as a concert singer for a long time and worked regularly with conductors such as Eugen Jochum, Karl Richter and Wolfgang Sawallisch.

For some time now he has been heard and seen more in opera productions: He was a guest at the Vienna State Opera, the Brussels Opera and, since 1991, at the Zurich Opera House with roles such as narrator and Sarastro in "Die Zauberflöte" or Basilio in "Barbier von Sevilla" "Under conductors like Claudio Abbado, Nikolaus Harnoncourt and Franz Welser-Möst.

At the Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin Robert Holl appeared under Daniel Barenboim as Landgrave Hermann in "Tannhäuser", as Hans Sachs in "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg", as Daland in "Der Fliegende Holländer" and as Commander in "Don Giovanni". In the following seasons Robert Holl also made guest appearances at the German State Opera Berlin, the Vienna State Opera and the Hamburg State Opera with major roles in the Wagnerian field such as Landgraf Hermann, Hans Sachs and König Marke. Robert Holl was heard at the Vienna State Opera in the 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons as Pimen / BORIS GODUNOW (new production under Daniele Gatti in May 2007). At the Bayreuth Festival, Robert Holl has been heard as Hans Sachs in "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg" since 1996 and was highly praised for his performance. In the summer of 2004 he played the role of Gurnemanz in Bayreuth for the first time in a new production of Wagner's "Parsifal" under the artistic direction of Pierre Boulez. Robert Holl has been singing the role of König Marke at the Bayreuth Festival since 2008 under the direction of Peter Schneider.

In addition to his involvement in various opera houses, Robert Holl has made a name for himself as a successful concert singer.

He has sung among the most renowned conductors in Europe and the USA in Europe, America and Japan. Robert Holl is considered one of the great song singers of our time. He is particularly fond of German and Russian songs. With the record company Preiser Records he has a long collaboration with numerous song recordings. Song recitals regularly take the artist to international music centers. Robert Holl composes songs and piano pieces himself, some of which have been published by the renowned music publisher Doblinger and have appeared on CD.

In addition to his work as a singer, he regularly holds master classes. Robert Holl is also the artistic director of "Schubertiaden" in Holland and Austria.



Eric Schneider ThumbEric Schneider, pianist

Hailing from the Bergische Land, Eric Schneider studied piano and mathematics. At the age of 22 he was at the Musikhochschule Köln and he passed the matriculation examination with distinction artistic. After first competitive prices and recitalist, he opted for a postgraduate course in Lied interpretation with Hartmut Holl. Pioneering impetus for his career he received from pianist Bruno Leonardo Gelber, Paul Badura-Skoda and Alfred Brendel and of Elisabeth Schwarzkopf and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. In the 90's he studied with Rolf Reuter at the Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler" conducting. With singers such as Matthias Goerne, Christine Schaefer, Christiane Oelze and Anna Prohaska, Eric Schneider combines for many years an intensive collaboration.

The most recent publications were "Apparition": songs of Henry Purcell and George Crumb with Christine Schäfer, "Wanderers Nachtlied", a song by Franz Schubert in a recording with Matthias Goerne, and in the DGG "Behind the Lines" with Anna Prohaska. Since some time, Eric Schneider turns again to solo performances. Ultimately, he was successful recitals at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, at the Kissinger Sommer and the Ruhr Piano Festival. His latest solo CD contains works by Leoš Janáček, Ludwig van Beethoven and Robert Schumann. Since 2009 he is teaching at the University of Arts in Berlin.
