Especially this year – 38 years of Academia Vocalis – great efforts were made once again to bring lecturers of international standing to Kufstein and Wörgl, and all were delighted to accept. Thus, this year we are proud to welcome Univ.-Prof. Karlheinz HANSER, Dean of mdw Vienna with two masterclasses, Univ.-Prof. Tobias Truniger with the accompanying course in operatic interpretation, Univ.-Prof. Christoph Prégardien, who is coming to Tyrol for the fifth time, and Univ.-Prof. Thomas Heyer as a new addition to the series of masterclasses in the Tyrolean Lowlands.

As a further novelty, there will be several song and aria recitals featuring outstanding graduates and lecturers of Academia Vocalis, alongside the already well-established and excellent young prizewinner of 2023, Michael Nagl, bass, and last year’s prizewinner Anija Lombard, soprano.

We believe that we are able to offer an excellent platform for young, up-and-coming artists, who can benefit in the various masterclasses from the rich artistic experience of our lecturers and tutors.

Under the most challenging conditions, the “International Masterclasses for Singing” in Wörgl, Academia Vocalis, were founded 38 years ago. In addition to masterclasses in opera, song and oratorio, there have also been gospel-jazz-rapso workshops, musical theatre, operetta, folk music focus evenings and, above all, courses for children & young people, which this year once again enjoy great popularity following the sensational success nine years ago of the children’s opera “Max & Moritz – Seven Merry Pranks” and the great success of the Christmas musical of 2018, “Silent Night – From a Song of Peace to a Department Store Hit”, as well as the musical produced three years ago – inspired by the Wörgl Free Money experiment – entitled “When Money Learned to Run”.

Participants from near and far, as for example last year, when course participants came from Austria and neighbouring countries such as Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Switzerland, Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro and Belgium, as well as from China, Japan, Mongolia, Korea, Russia, Colombia and Canada (from 17 different nations across four continents!), in some cases travelling especially for this purpose, form a colourful mix of cultures and mentalities. This enables a lively exchange of ideas from which, ultimately, everyone benefits.
