Benjamin Chamandy
The Toronto-born bass-baritone Benjamin Chamandy grew up in Innsbruck.

As a child he worked at the Tyrolean State Theater. He was also a member of the Wilten Boys' Choir. He began his training in Innsbruck, but then moved to the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna to Prof. Karlheinz Hanser, where he is currently completing his master's degree in vocal performance. Benjamin Chamandy has already participated in various projects and operas, for example at the Klosterneuburg Opera in Leoncavallos I pagliacci. He took on the title role in Einems Tulifant at the MuTh in Vienna and at Esterhazy Palace in Eisenstadt. In March he could be heard in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro at the Schönbrunn Palace Theater. In the Theater an der Wien Benjamin Chamandy was in the youth project Papagena chasing the bat as Papageno, at the chamber opera he was most recently a guest in Gounod's Faust. He made his debut as Viconte Cascada in Franz Lehár's "The Merry Widow" in August 2021. From September 2021 to July 2023, Benjamin Chamandy will be a member of the International Opera Studio of the State Opera Unter den Linden as a scholarship holder of the Liz Mohn Culture and Music Foundation. In the 2021/2022 season he can be seen in "Hippolyte et Aricie" as Tisiphone and in "Samson et Dalila" as the second Philistine. In "Ariadne auf Naxos" he appears as a lackey and in "Tosca" as a jailer. He also takes on the role of Count Ceprano in "Rigoletto" and that of the police superintendent in "Der Rosenkavalier". In "La traviata" he can be heard as Marchese d'Obigny.
