RORY GREEN
Rory Green is a British-Irish baritone and lives in Berlin. He is a graduate of the University of Oxford and the Hanns Eisler School of Music, where he was taught by Thomas Quasthoff and Christine Schäfer.
Recent solo highlights include recitals at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival with Thomas Quasthoff and Justus Zeyen and Junius in Benjamin Britten's "The Rape of Lucretia" with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin under the baton of Robin Ticciati.
In 2020, Rory Green was a finalist at the German National Singing Competition in Berlin and has worked in masterclasses with renowned vocal teachers and singers such as Bejun Mehta, Kirstin Schöttledreier, Karlheinz Hanser, Sami Kustaloglu and Burkhard Fritz.
He is particularly interested in new music and regularly performs with PHØNIX16, with whom he has recorded works by composers such as Olga Neuwirth, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Martin Schüttler and Mathias Monrad Möller. Last year, he sang in the world premieres of three operas: Sleepless by Peter Eötvös at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Lovelease by German Alonso at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and Hopfen und Malz by Daniel Behle at the Brandenburger Theater. He also stepped in for a production of Luigi Nono's Io, Frammento Da Prometeo at the Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater
In 2020, he sang the role of Junius in Benjamin Britten's The Rape of Lucretia with the Deutsches Symphonie Orchester under the baton of Robin Ticciati.
In the coming season, Rory will return to the Staatsoper Unter den Linden to appear in a new production of Salvatore Sciarrino's Perseo e Andromeda.
